The Florida Panthers (30-19-3) host the Chicago Blackhawks (16-30-5) this afternoon at Amerant Bank Arena with ABC broadcasting the game nationally.
Los Gatos opened its three-game homestand with an impressive 3-0 victory over the perpetually pesky Los Angeles Kings. Sergei Bobrovsky earned First Star honors for his 29-save shutout and Matthew Tkachuk set up two goals and added the clinching empty-netter. Sam Bennett scored for the third time in the last five games and Aleksander Barkov finally ended a 13-game goalless drought.
The Blackhawks will be finishing off a three-game road trip today in Sunrise. After posting a surprising 4-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena, Chicago put up a good fight in Raleigh, but were beaten 3-2 by the Carolina Hurricanes, marking their fourth loss in the last five games. Ilya Mikheyev and Connor Bedard were the goal-scorers. Bedard leads the Blackhawks in scoring with 45 points in 51 games played.
