The Florida Panthers (39-38-4) will complete the injury-ravaged 2025-26 campaign when they host Detroit Red Wings (41-30-10) tonight at Amerant Bank Arena in the season finale for both squads who will miss the playoffs.
Cole Reinhardt opened the scoring to extend his goal streak to three games and potted the game-winning marker with 1:50 left in regulation to lift the Panthers to a 3-2 victory over the New York Rangers on Monday. Daniil Tarasov made 24 saves and Mackie Samoskevich also lit the lamp in the win, which guaranteed the Cats would finish the season no worse than NHL .500. Defenseman Mikulas Hovorka has been recalled from Charlotte.
While the Panthers were beating the Rangers, the Red Wings fell 4-3 in overtime to the Tampa Bay Lightning at Benchmark International Arena. David Perron, Marco Kasper and Alex DeBrincat scored the goals and Patrick Kane became the 24th player in NHL history to reach 1,400 points by getting an assist on DeBrincat’s game-tying marker with 4:46 left in the third.
