Stanley Cup Gameday 4: Florida Panthers vs Edmonton Oilers

Graphic design: Francisco Oporta (filter by TL)

After a pair of overtime decisions north of the border, Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final was completely one-sided as the Florida Panthers crushed the Edmonton Oilers 6-1 at Amerant Bank Arena to take a two games to one lead in the Stanley Cup Final. Carter Verhaeghe, Sam Reinhart and Evan Rodrigues each registered their first goals of the series and added an assist in Florida’s blowout win. Brad Marchand opened the scoring and Sam Bennett’s breakaway goal in the second period all but ended it. Bennett and Marchand have lit the lamp in each of the first three games. Defenseman Aaron Ekblad also notched his first of the Final off a gorgeous set up from Reinhart to chase Stuart Skinner. Corey Perry’s power-play goal early in the second period was all the offense Edmonton could muster as Sergei Bobrovsky finished with 32 saves. Connor McDavid (7 games) and Leon Draisaitl (8 games) saw long point streaks come to an end. The Panthers limited McDavid to two shots and held Draisaitl to no shot attempts in the highly-combative affair that saw the teams combine for 140 penalty minutes.
