The Florida Panthers (11-4-1) host the New Jersey Devils (11-6-2) tonight in the second of two consecutive games at Amerant Bank Arena between the division leading clubs.
Florida played pretty well in Tuesday’s night 4-1 loss to New Jersey. The Panthers out-shot the Devils 35-24, won 60% of the game’s faceoffs, out-hit them 36-25, and except for a delaying the game call on A.J. Greer, managed to stay out of the penalty box. Unfortunately, they were only to get one puck, a power-play deflection by Sam Reinhart, past former goaltender Jacob Markstrom
The Devils took advantage of some defensive lapses with goals from Jack Hughes, Timo Meier and Paul Cotter giving Markstrom the goal support he needed before Ondrej Palat iced it with an empty-net. Jesper Bratt and Dougie Hamilton each contributed two assists to the winning cause.
