The Florida Panthers (38-38-4) will play its penultimate game of the 2025-26 season when they host fellow also-rans the New York Rangers (33-38-9) tonight in a battle of the backups at Amerant Bank Arena.
Florida snapped a four-game losing streak on Saturday by cruising to a 6-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena. The line of Eetu Luostarinen (1G/2A), Mackie Samoskevich (1G/2A) and A.J. Greer (1G/1A) combined for eight points, and all three players hit the 30-point plateau during the tilt. Tomas Nosek poduced his first two-goal game since 2019 and Daniil Tarasov stopped 17 shots to pick up his 11th win.
The Rangers opened a season-ending three-game road trip with a tightly-played 2-0 loss to the Dallas Stars on Saturday. New York tested Dallas keeper Jake Oettinger 22 times, but could not find the back of the net. Igor Shesterkin stopped 17 of 18 shots faced in another frustrating loss in which he played well, but got no goal`support.
