The Florida Panthers (23-14-2) will finish off its holiday season homestand they face the middling Pittsburgh Penguins (17-17-5) tonight at Amerant Bank Arena.
Florida will be looking to shake off a frustrating 3-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes last night. The Cats’ offense continues to sputter. They have only managed to beat a goaltender five times in their last four home games. Anton Lundell was the only Panther to score against Hurricanes goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov as the Cats wasted a high-quality start from Sergei Bobrovsky.
The Penguins will be playing its first game of 2025. Pittsburgh was doubled up 4-2 by the Detroit Red Wings on New Year’s Eve in its last outing. They are currently one point behind the Ottawa Senators, who hold down Wild Card 2. Ageless wonder Sidney Crosby has played in all 39 games and leads the Penguins in scoring with 39 points.
