The Florida Panthers (34-32-3) open a brief two-game homestand when they host the Seattle Kraken (31-26-9) tonight in Sunrise to close out the season-series between the two far-flung clubs.
Florida dropped a 4-1 decision to the Calgary Flames on Friday to finish its four-game road trip with a one win and three losses. A.J. Greer scored the only goal and also managed to get himself suspended for three games by first hooking, then boarding Connor Zary in the third period. Donovan Sebrango and Tomas Nosek had the assists on Greer’s 13th of the season and Daniil Tarasov made 32 saves. Paul Maurice will coach his 2,000 NHL game tonight. Forward Noah Gregor has been recalled from Charlotte.
The Kraken have lost three in a row and find themselves four points behind the Nashville Predators for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Kaapo Kakko had a goal and assist on Saturday night in Columbus, but it wasn’t enough as the Kraken were beaten 5-2 by the host Blue Jackets. Vince Dunn also lit the lamp and Joey Daccord turned aside 23 of 27 shots faced.
