The Florida Panthers (19-13-2) will go for a sweep of its three-game homestand when they take on the St. Louis Blues (13-15-8) at Amerant Bank Arena in the second half of a weekend back-to-back.
Florida scored three times in the second half of the third period to erase a three-goal deficit and then outdid the Carolina Hurricanes in the shootout to post a stunning 4-3 victory over the Eastern Conference’s top team last night. Brad Marchand, Sam Bennett and Sam Reinhart each had a goal and an assist and Evan Rodrigues scored the shootout-winner in the top of the fourth round and added two assists in the stunning comeback.
The Blues will be playing the first of two in the Sunshine State this evening. They will face the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday, so we’ll be rooting for them in that one. St. Louis dropped its last outing, but earned a point in a tough 2-1 loss to the New York Rangers on home ice on Thursday. Jonatan Berggren scored their only goal and Jordan Binnington made 29 saves before he was beaten by J.T. Miller 2:21 into overtime. Robert Thomas leads the team in assists (17) and points (24).
