Florida Panthers Wednesday Caterwaul

Florida Panthers reserve Logan Hutsko scored the game-opening goal in IK Oskarshamn’s 2-1 overtime win over HV71 in preseason action from the Swedish Hockey League. Hutsko lit the lamp at even strength 15 minutes into the first period, breaking in on net after getting sprung free thanks to a fine pass from Hynek Zohorna. The Panthers fifth-rounder in 2023, Olof Glifford served as the backup goaltender for HV71.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Austin Wagner and defensemen Mark Pysyk and Libor Hajek to professional tryout contracts.

PWHL

The new PWHL has revealed the locations of its six franchises. Boston, Minneapolis-St. Paul, New York City area, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto will house franchises during the circuit’s inaugural 24-game season, which is slated to begin in January.

Teams can sign three veteran players beginning on September 1. This initial free agency window will be open for ten days. On September 15, there will be a 15-round draft held in Toronto.. All players wishing to play in the PWHL must declare for the draft. Teams will maintain the rights of the players they draft for two years. After the draft, each teams roster will consist of 18 players. Undrafted players will become free agents who can sign with any of the six teams. Each club can sign up to 20 players before training camps open in November. Additional players can sign tryout agreements with teams as the rosters grow.
