Wednesday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

When you’re the Stanely Cup champions, the next season comes at you awfully fast. The Florida Panthers have announced its 2025 preseason schedule. As per usual, the Cats will play against nearby neighbors Tampa Bay, Nashville, and Carolina, starting with a double-header against the Predators on September 21 and finishing with a triplet against the Lightning, with the first of those three games at Kia Center in Orlando.

Zdeno Chara, Joe Thornton, Duncan Keith and Alexander Mogilny were four of the eight individuals elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame on Tuesday. Two other players will also be inducted: former Canadian women’s national team forward Jennifer Botterill and former United States women’s national team forward Brianna Decker. In the Builders Category, former Boston University coach Jack Parker and former Canadian women’s hockey coach, general manager and coaching consultant Daniele Sauvageau were elected. Chara, Keith and Thornton were each elected in their first year of eligibility. Mogilny finally made it in after sixteen years on the ballot. The Class of 2025 is scheduled to be inducted in Toronto on Monday, November 10.
