Hilary Knight became the all-time scoring leader in women’s hockey world championship history with her 45th tournament goal during the United States 6-0 rout of Russia. The 32-year-old split two defenders with a cutback to find an open shooting lane to give the Americans a two-goal lead early in the second period, breaking the tie with Cammi Granato. Britta Curl, Lee Stecklein, Kelly Pannek, Abbey Murphy and Jesse Compher scored the other goals. Megan Keller and Grace Zumwinkle each had two assists. Alex Cavalinni stopped 11 shots for her second shutout for the United States (3-0), who have yet to surrender a goal in Calgary.

Natalie Spooner scored two goals in Canada’s 5-0 win over Switzerland. Emily Clark, Jaime Bourbonnais and Melodie Daoust notched the other goals for the host country. Daoust also contributed a pair of helpers. Emerance Maschmeyer posted a 12-save shutout in her first start of the tournament while Switzerland’s Andrea Braendli stopped 41 of 46 shots faced. Canada (3-0) will face the U.S. on Thursday with the winner getting the top spot in Group A and the number one seed in the quarterfinals.
In Group B, Japan (2-1) clinched a spot in the quarterfinals with a 4-1 victory over winless Hungary. The loss means Hungary cannot advance to the next round.

NHL signings
The St. Louis Blues have signed forward Zachary Bolduc to an entry-level contract. Bolduc, who has spent the last two seasons with the Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL, was selected by the Blues with the 17th overall pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. (St. Louis Game Time)
The San Jose Sharks signed undrafted NCAA free agent forward Jasper Weatherby to a two-year, entry-level level contract. Weatherby played three seasons for the University of North Dakota, and put up 14 goals and 24 points in 29 games as a junior. (Fear The Fin)
