Florida Panthers prospect Albert Wikman opened the scoring 3:53 into the first period, as Sweden posted its first win at the World Junior Summer Showcase by beating Team USA 7-5 in Plymouth, MI.

It was the first point of the event for the 19-year-old defenseman, who was taken in the fourth round of the 2023 NHL Draft.

Wikman has appeared in all three games for Sweden. Fellow Cats Linus Eriksson, Simon Zether and Olof Glifford got the day off.

The Swedes will take on Finland today, hopefully Florida’s other prospects see some playing time.

Defenseman Ben Danford signed an entry-level contract with the Toronto. Danford was taken in the firsdt round (31st overall) at the 2024 NHL Draft. He has played two seasons in the OHL with the Oshawa Generals.

The San Jose Sharks signed left wing Igor Chernyshov to an entry-level contract. Chernyshov was selected with the first pick of the second round (33rd overall) at the most recent NHL Draft at Sphere in Las Vegas.
