The Florida Panthers concluded its annual develpoment camp with a scrimmage on Thursday, so that’s it for the on-ice stuff for a while. Team Red won the scrimmage by a 3-1 count.

After each team failed to score in the opening 5-on-5 segment. defenseman Mikulas Hovorka, one of the more seasoned players in camp, opened the scoring for Team Red by beating Cooper Black at 4-on-4. With the sides playing at 3-on-3 Team White’s Oliver Okuliar solved Tyler Muszelik on breakaway with the primary assist going to Jack Devine. Josh Davies put Red back on top before Wisconsin Badger Owen Lindmark completed the scoring into an empty-net.

There were shootouts held after the end of each of the three 15-minute periods. Gracyn Sawchyn, Sandis Vilmanis Jakub Kos and Hunter St. Martin tallied for Team Red while Ludvig Jansson posted the only conversion for White.

There were a smattering of signings across the NHL yesterday. Let’s talk a look…

Jet Greaves re-upped with the Columbus Blue Jackets, signing a two-year, $1.625 million contract, avoiding arbitration. Greaves saw action in nine NHL games with Columbus and went 30-12-4 while posting a .910 save percentage and 2.93 GAA with the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters.

The New York Rangers signed 34-year-old veteran defenseman Chad Ruhwedel to a one-year, two-way contract. Ruhwedel appeared in 47 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins and five with the Rangers in 2023-24.

Our division rivals in Boston inked defensemen Michael Callahan and Alec Regula to one-year, two-way deals. Both players spent last season in the AHL with the Providence Bruins.

Update

The New York Rangers have signed restricted free agent defenseman Braden Schneider to a two-year bridge deal worth $4.4 millon. Schneider appeared in all 82 games last season, producing five goals and 19 points. He had two assists in 16 postseason games.
