Friday Caterwaul: Stars avoid elimination with 3-2 overtime win over Vegas

Joe Pavelski notched a power-play goal 3:18 into overtime, and the Dallas Stars extended the Western Conference Final to a fifth game with a 3-2 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights at American Airlines Center on Thursday. Pavelski ended the tilt with a one-timer from the left faceoff circle after Golden Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb was sent off for high-sticking.

Jason Robertson scored both Dallas goals in regulation, Roope Hintz and Miro Heiskanen each had two assists, and Jake Oettinger made 37 stops to help the reeling Stars survive.

William Karlsson and former Florida Panthers forward Jonathan Marchessault scored, and Adin Hill finished with 39 saves for the Golden Knights, who had a five-game winning streak come to an end.

So, the Cats will have to wait until at least Saturday night to know who they will face in the Stanley Cup Final. Game 5 will take place at 8 p.m. at T-Mobile Arena with ABC handling the broadcast.
