Panthers sign Henrik Haapala and Maxim Mamin

According to reports, the Florida Panthers have come to terms with Finnish forward Henrik Haapala and KHLer Maxim Mamin.

The shifty Haapala led Finland’s Liiga in scoring last season with 60 points (15G/45A) in 51 regular season games. The undrafted 23-year-old signed a two-year entry-level contract with performance bonuses. Haapala has played with Tappara Tampere in the top division for the last five seasons. His size (5’9” – 176 lbs) is a bit of a concern, but the offensive skills are there.

Mamin was drafted by the Panthers in the sixth round (175th overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He upped his game with CSKA Moscow last season, setting career-highs with 12 goals and 13 assists in 42 games after totaling just 17 points in his first two KHL campaigns. Like Haapala, the 22-year-old Mamin signed a two-year entry-level contract and will be a restricted free agent after the 2018-19 season.
