Hey Ladies! The US and Canada meet today with gold on the line

In perhaps the most unsurprising event of the Sochi Games, the American and Canadian women’s hockey teams will clash today for the gold medal at noon. The game will broadcast on NBC and can also be seen online at www.nbcolympics.com.

The Americans pounded Sweden 6-1 Monday morning in the semifinals, while undefeated Canada erupted for three goals in the first period to get by Switzerland 3-1. The losers go at it this morning for the bronze medal.

The two teams met in the preliminary round last week, with Canada taking a 3-2 decision. Meghan Agosta-Marciano was the hero with two goals and an assist, all in the final frame.

The Americans had a bit of lackluster performance in that meeting, but should be firing on all cylinders today as they look to end Canada’s run of three straight Olympic gold medals.

Feel free to chime in below or head over to the mothership, where you can chat with some of the brightest stars of the SBNation galaxy. The SBN live chat is up and can joined by clicking here. I will probably be commenting a bit in both places during the first period before I head off to a doctor’s appointment.

The men get back at it tomorrow with Sweden and Finland hooking up at 7:00 a.m. EST and the US and Canada doing battle at 12 p.m.
