Florida Panthers Top 25 Under 25: #14 Jonathan Ang

Next up on the LBC T25U25 countdown is a speedster who finished his junior career on a high note

#14: Jonathan Ang

Position: Forward

Age: 20

Team: Springfield Thunderbirds (AHL)

Drafted in 2016, 4th Round (94th Overall)

In his fourth and what looks to be final Ontario Hockey League season, Jonathan Ang scored 25 goals and set a new-career highs at the junior level with 45 assists and 70 points in 65 combined games with the Peterbrough Petes and Sarnia Sting. The speedy forward produced 27 in 26 after the trade that brought him to the Sting.

Ang racked up 9 points (2G/7A) in 12 postseason games as the Sarnia advanced to the second round of the league playoffs before being bounced by the Kitchener Rangers.

Ang already signed his entry-level contract last November, so look for the 20-year-old to try to turn some heads at training camp before he likely makes his way north to the Springfield Thunderbirds to start his professional career. After getting his feet in the American League, it shouldn’t be too long before he is ready for call-up duty and gets a look with the Panthers as the club looks to add a little more skill to the bottom half of its forward ranks.
