Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin bested Florida Panthers representative Jonathan Huberdeau and six others to win the Honda NHL Accuracy Shooting contest last night at Enterprise Center in downtown St. Louis.
Slavin took the event with a time of 9.505 seconds. Huberdeau (13.704) finished third behind Slavin and Leon Draisaitl (10.257) of the Edmonton Oilers.
Other winners at the NHL All-Star skills competition included Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks, who won the new Gatorade Shooting Stars challenge; Mathew Barzal of the New York Islanders beat two-time winner Connor McDavid for Bridgeston eFastest Skater with a time of 13.175 seconds; St. Louis Blues goaltender and hometown hero Jordan Binnington, who won the Bud Light Save Streak event with 10 consecutive saves; and Montreal Canadiens defenseman Shea Weber, who took the Enterprise Hardest Shot title yet again with a top speed of 106.5 mph.
The Canadiens topped the Americans by a 2-1 count in the Elite Women’s 3-on-3 game presented by adidas. Rebecca Johnston and Melodie Daoust scored for the Canucks while Hilary Knight tallied the only goal for the Yanks. Canada’s Ann-Renee Desbiens was strong in the net, finishing with 15 saves.
