Report: prospect Donskoi to part ways with Panthers

Finland’s RadioMega is reporting Karpat forward Joonas Donskoi – Florida’s fourth round selection in 2010 – will not remain with the organization beyond today’s 5 p.m. prospect signing deadline, barring a last-second negotiation:

“Donskoi and the Florida Panthers were unable to reach agreement on the coming season… (he) became a free player to move to any NHL club”

Apologies for the loose translation; full story here. The 6′, 187lb winger collected 25 points (8G) in 52 regular season games with Karpat (SM-Liiga) this year, with another 3G/3A in the playoffs. At 20 he’s accumulated vast international experience but never attended a rookie camp with the Panthers in two years since being drafted at 99th overall, one spot ahead of South Florida’s Andrew Yogan (NYR). Whatever the ultimate outcome, we’ll know today.

Note: Donskoi was indeed at the 2011 Development Camp in Coral Springs; had earlier stated otherwise.
