Jussi Jokinen scores in Finland’s 3-2 loss to USA

Florida Panthers forward Jussi Jokinen scored with 4:33 left in regulation to pull Finland within a goal of Team USA in a World Cup exhibition game that the Americans ultimately held on to win 3-2.

After the U.S. jumped out to a 3-0 lead on goals by T.J. Oshie, Ryan Kesler and Derek Stepan, teenage Finnish sensation Patrik Laine of the Winnipeg Jets scored a power-play goal at 11:22 of the third from Sami Vatanen and Cat center Aleksander Barkov.

Jokinen logged 15:32 of ice time and finished with two shots on goal, a block and a -1 rating.

Barkov had two shots on goal, a block and finished the game with a -2 rating in 16:39 TOI.

The tilt was the final pre-tournament game for both teams. Finland split games with Sweden beforehand, while the USA split a set with Canada.

Team USA opens tournament play against Europe on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Finland will face Team North America (Ekblad, Trocheck) on Sunday night at 8:00 p.m.
