Liners: Visiting Panthers dump on limping Stars 6-3
Who's got two victories back-to-back? The Andy Man. Is a third on the way?
"Dallas had the momentum basically for the first half of the game, but we slowly took it over. When you string a couple together, it takes the wind out of the other team's sails."
- Florida's Craig Anderson
- Gotta hand it to Dallas' Mike Ribeiro: his between-the-legs goal was one for the ages; Andy had no chance...could have called that?
- Cory Stillman finished the night with may have been his strongest game yet as a Panther: 1g (#250 of his career), 2a, and a +1. More importantly, he was visible all night and his effort finally paid off in an extremely important game.
- Goaltender Craig Anderson looked mighty strong on most of the 32 shots he stopped; considering 14 were fired in the first period alone, this could have been very ugly very early.
- How about Nathan Horton (5 shots) and Stephen Weiss trading goals in the waning moments of the second? Nathan's was Textbook Horts: just to the left of the crease, aiming high.
- Marty Turco looked awfully human giving up five on 32 shots, though with a defense crumbling before him, the loss wasn't entirely of his doing.
- Flu-stricken Panthers forward Richard Zednik sat out the match.
- Jay Bouwmeester suddenly came to life with a power play goal in the third; has he "returned"? 'Cuz this run ain't happening without him.
- Does Jay scoring a goal trump Karlis Skrastins and his unlikely +3? Um, yeah. But kudos are in order.
- Speaking of plus/minus, what's the collective opinion on Jonesin' Jassen Cullimore's -3? Anyone else hear a call being placed to Steve Eminger (scratched)?
- The Beach (1a, even) made a horrendous error, turning over the puck, creating a two-on-none deal for the Stars. Don't remember seeing much of Boynton following that one (13:24 total TOI, lowest of the FLA defense).
- Looking confident, Kamil Kreps scored on a beatiful semi-breakaway./
The Box congratulates Cory Stillman on his 250th NHL goal!
