Panthers select Linus Nassen in third round of 2016 NHL Draft

Cats tab Swedish defenseman with pick acquired from Sabres

After going forward with their first two picks, the Florida Panthers went defense with the third-round pick they acquired from the Buffalo Sabres in the 2016 NHL Entry, selecting Linus Nassen 89th overall.

Nassen is a 6', 172 lb Swede who scored 5 goals and 16 assists in 42 games with Lulea's junior team. He played in 10 games with the top-division club in the SHL and went scoreless.

The left-shooting defender was ranked 46th among EU skaters by Central Scouting.
