We have a winner and that winner is jupiterfins.
Jupiterfins took this year’s contest with a total of 31 points by grinding out a 9-4 overall record (he did not participate in Round 3) and picking up 4 bonus points along the way.
Not playing round three almost proved costly. If the Boston Bruins had won last night’s game SymmGod would have won.
In addition to winning the overall crown (and the donated Stanley C. Panther bobblehead that goes along with it – thank you Bobble Boss!), jupiterfins also won the Round 4 segment of the contest, correctly picking the St. Louis Blues in seven games and edging out sabercat, the one other contestant who took the Blues in seven, in the total goals tiebreaker.
I tied with SymmGod (25 points each) for second place, but will give the nod to Symm for the two spot for going 8-7 while I went 7-8, and thebiz34 came in fourth place with 24 points.
This was an extremely tough postseason to call, evidenced by jupiterfins and SymmGod being the only two players to pick more winners than losers. Last year’s winners posted 43 points, while this year we only had one person top 30 points. Upsets indeed.
