Marcel Goc (above, left) was blanked for the second straight game as his Eagles fell to Krefeld Pinguine by a 5-1 count in front of a crowd of 9,715 fans at SAP Arena in Mannheim. The Florida Panthers center was dropped back down to fourth line duty for the contest, finishing with an even rating and no shots on goal. Krefeld struck for two quick goals midway through the first period to take control of the game. Boris Blank scored the opening goal followed by a Mitja Robar tally just 58 seconds later. Matthias Plachta finally got Adler Mannheim on the board late in the second period, scoring an even strength goal with assists going to Frank Mauer and the dangerous Yanick Lehoux. In the third period, Krefeld would break open the tight contest by scoring three unanswered goals. With Adler’s Steven Wagner in the penalty box, Pinguine forward Andreas Driendl scored on the power play to give Krefeld a 3-1 lead at the 3:08 mark. Elia Ostwald would extend the advantage to 4-1 five minutes later with an unassisted tally. Martin Schymainski would finish up the scoring for Krefeld with another even strength goal at 11:26 of the period. Dennis Endras suffered the loss for Adler Mannheim while journeyman Scott Langkow posted the win for Krefeld, making 37 saves. Mark Voakes and Francois Méthot each picked up two assists for Krefeld. Despite the loss, Adler Mannheim remained in second place in the D.E.L. (German Elite League).
