Marcel Goc Plus One In Adler Loss To Davos
Host club HC Davos blasts Adler Mannheim 6-2 in final group stage match at the Spengler Cup.
Florida Panthers center Marcel Goc finished with one shot on goal and a +1 rating during Adler Mannheim's 6-2 loss to HC Davos in Friday action from the 2012 Spengler Cup in Switzerland. Goc skated on the Eagles top line with Jason Pominville and Nick Bonino. He won all five draws he took during the game.
The loss left Adler in third place in Group Cattini and denied them an automatic berth in the semifinals.
The Eagles will play a crossover quarterfinal game against Swiss side HC Fribourg-Gotteron who finished second in Group Torriani. The winner will take on Team Canada in the semifinals.
HC Davos will battle Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the KHL in the other quarterfinal match. The winner of that game will meet Czech Extraliga club Vitkovice Steel.
Goc was on the ice for Dennis Seidenberg's early first period tally which came at the 3:18 mark. The goal was unassisted.
Mannheim took a 2-0 lead in the second period when Florian Kettemer lit the lamp. Mike Glumac picked up the only assist on the goal.
San Jose Sharks center Joe Thornton set up Enzo Corvi 64 seconds later and he beat Dennis Endras to get Davos on the board.
Dino Wieser scored a power play goal to tie the game and then put Davos ahead 3-2 with his second goal of the game just over two minutes later.
In the third period, HC Davos would get goals from Loui Eriksson, Gregory Hofmann and Santeri Alatalo to complete the rout.
Joe Thornton and Petr Sykora finished the game with two assists each.
Leonardo Genoni turned aside 32 shots to post the win for Davos. Endras surrendered all six goals for Adler Mannheim.
