Goc Scoreless For Adler Mannheim In Overtime Win

Marcel Goc was held off the scoresheet as Adler Mannheim edged Düsseldorf EG by a 2-1 count in overtime. The Florida Panthers center moved up to the second line after two games of fourth line duty. Goc skated with center Christoph Ullmann and Adam Mitchell and ended up firing two shots on goal. Ullman would open the scoring for Adler, beating Düsseldorf’s Robert Goepfert on a rebound off the post late in the first period for his fouth goal of the season on assists from Mitchell and Yanick Lehoux with Mannheim on a 5-3 advantage. Carl Ridderwall would equalize for Düsseldorf with a power play goal at the 4:54 mark of the second period with Nikolai Goc in the box. The teams would play a scoreless third period and the game would head to overtime. Frank Mauer would play hero, scoring the winner on the backhand at 2:37 of the extra session with assists going to Shawn Belle and Lehoux. The two assists gave Lehoux 13 points on the season. Felix Brückmann posted the win in goal for Adler, stopping 23 shots. The victory put Adler Mannheim at the top of the table in the D.E.L. (German Elite League). Marcel Goc now has 5 points in 5 games to go with a plus one rating.
