Florida Panthers Top 25 Under 25: #20 Max Gildon

Our T25U25 continues with a defenseman who had a standout first season in the NCAA.

#20: Max Gildon

Position: Defenseman

Age: 19

Team: New Hampshire Wildcats (NCAA)

Drafted in 2017, 3rd Round (66th Overall)

After being selected by the Florida Panthers in the third round of 2017 Entry Draft, Max Gildon enrolled at the  University of New Hampshire and turned heads as freshman. Gildon played in 36 games and scored 8 goals, including a hat trick on October 20th against Colorado College. He added 15 assists to go along with -5 rating.

This summer, Gildon impressed at Florida’s annual development camp, where he was one of the standouts in the final scrimmage, and played in two games for Team USA Blue at the World Junior Summer Showcase in Kamloops, BC. Gildon didn’t make the final combined U.S. roster, but any additional playing time is a boon.

Gildon hasn’t signed an entry-level contract yet, so look for him to return to New Hampshire for his sophomore season. At 6-foot-3 and 191 pounds, Gildon’s size, potential and offensive abilities make him a prospect to keep an eye on going forward.
