Monday Caterwaul: Panthers Open Forum

Yet another trip around stunning Palm Beach County for me today, so it’s time for the latest episode of mail-it-in Monday. Anything develops through the day, post it up here.

Former Florida Panthers goaltender Craig Anderson has signed a four-year, $12.75M contract extension with the Ottawa Senators. Guess that makes him part of the proverbial “solution”; hope Bryan Murray’s successor agrees. Anyway, congrats to him on scoring big.

New Hurricanes defenseman Bryan Allen: “I’ve heard nothing but stories about, ‘Wait until you get in the playoffs here and see how it is.’ ” Reality Check: Carolina currently sits 3 points back of eight place Buffalo; both clubs have played 72 games.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel’s Mike Berardino on Peter DeBoer’s future with the organization: “Such talk (about a coaching change) probably isn’t fair, not after a handful of veterans were shipped off for draft picks and other trinkets last month, but it’s only natural when you connect the dots.”

From a few days ago, but the Montreal Gazette contrasts two very different situations between the Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning; expect the typical brickbats thrown our way.

One more hit from the Sentinel: Jack Skille and Alexander Sulzer will play Tuesday in Manhattan; is Michal Repik the odd-man out? Should he be?

Live Game Thread tomorrow at 6:30 pm.
