Quiet day for Panthers at the Worlds

Robert Bortuzzo scored the go-ahead goal with 3:26 left in the second period and Oskar Sundqvist bagged a late clincher as the visiting St. Louis Blues beat the San Jose Sharks 4-2 to tie the series at a game apiece. Logan Couture scored back-to-back goals in the middle frame to tie the game after Jaden Schwartz and Vince Dunn staked the Blues to a two-goal lead. Couture leads the league with 13 goals and 19 points.  Jordan Binnington stopped 24 shots to pick up his ninth win of the postseason.

Florida forward Frank Vatrano registered two shots on goal and finished with an even rating while playing 9:22 in Team USA’s key 3-2 overtime win over Finland. Fellow Cat Juho Lammikko logged 5:16 TOI in the first period and won two of five faceoffs for the Finns. Detroit’s Dylan Larkin scored the game-winner 3:47 into the extra session. Top prospects Jack Hughes and Kaapo Kakko went scoreless in the game.

Evgenii Dadonov logged 13:42 TOI and produced one shot on goal in Russia’s 3-0 win over the Czech Republic. Dadonov finished the game with an even rating. Tampa Bay’s Andrei Vasilevskiy posted a 23-save shutout as Russia moved to 3-0 in the group stage.
