Panthers assign Connor Brickley to Portland

Connor Brickley‘s stellar training camp earned him a spot on the Florida Panthers to start the season. After appearing in ten of the club’s first fourteen games, GM Dale Tallon has decided to send the 23-year-old down to AHL Portland to get more playing time. The rookie winger was scratched in all three games of Florida’s recently concluded three-game West Coast road trip.

Brickley scored his first NHL goal (against the Carolina Hurricanes) and added two assists in his ten games with the big club. The Pirates, who have seen their forward ranks decimated by injuries and call-ups, could definitely use the help. The University of Vermont product notched 22 goals and 47 points in his first full AHL season last year with the San Antonio Rampage.

Number 86 was impressive in his first stint with the Panthers. It shouldn’t be too long before we see him back in Sunrise.
