Friday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers GameDay Open Forum

Far be it for us, as fans, to obsess over Thursday’s mindbending point giveaway to Washington – whom the Cats will be tied with in games-played after tonight – but in the interest of full disclosure below are listed, just for “fun”, the Florida Panthers skaters who were on the ice during those now-infamous 46 seconds of doom in St. Paul less than a day ago (video after the jump):

Third Period, 19:29 (Erik Christensen goal): F Sean Bergenheim, Kris Versteeg, Marcel Goc, D Brian Campbell, Jason Garrison

Overtime, 0:15 (Mikko Koivu goal): F Bergenheim, Goc (minus-3!), D Dmitry Kulikov, Mike Weaver

If there’s anything remotely recognizable remaining of the visitor’s dressing room in the Xcel Center on the heels of that defeat, someone’s not performing their required duties. Onward to Columbus (25W/57P)…

Why last night rocked:

  • For 59 minutes and 31 seconds, Thursday evening was looking just fine/

Why last night jonesed:

  • WSH over BOS, 3-2 (SO): ready for more sparkling news? The Caps host Montreal tomorrow/

Panthers Playoff Update:

  • FLA lost to MIN 2-3 (OT); playoff odds down 0.9 to 97.8% per Sports Club Stats (Conversely, check out this bump) /

Why tonight is a Big Deal in SoFla, beyond the obvious:

Focusing on clubs within 5 points of Panthers (90P/5GR); teams FLA needs to lose in bold

  • PIT at BUF (86P/5GR), 7:30 p.m.: Sabres are 14-2-3 since February 19/

Next up for the Cats:

  • Tonight from Columbus; LBC Game Thread will be doing its very best to forget about those 33 points separating the Panthers and Blue Jackets at 6:30. Until then, get to know our pals at The Cannon.

Did you really want to know:

  • Six of FLA’s last eleven games have gone past regulation time, producing a 2-4 record/

Thursday’s Organizational News

  • Scratches vs MIN: F Kris Barch, Mikael Samuelsson, Mike Santorelli, D Keaton Ellerby. This list may look a wee bit different tomorrow./
