Monday Caterwaul: Panthers Open Forum

Sunday’s loss to Anaheim featured four power play chances for the Panthers, who were unable to convert on any of them. Such an “achievement” is far from new for this club: Florida has gone scoreless on the man-advantage in games with four or more such opportunities a staggering 14 times in 2011-12.

Above you’ll find we’ve skipped the typical “game highlights” – since there weren’t any of the offensive variety – and gone straight to what can only be a save-of-the-year candidate by Jose Theodore.

Why last night rocked:

  • Latest episode of “The Walking Dead” was far superior to last week’s. Otherwise nada./

Why last night jonesed:

  • WPG over COL, 5-1; Jets now 4-1-1 last six at home/

Panthers Playoff Update:

Why tonight is a Big Deal in SoFla, beyond the obvious:

Teams FLA needs to lose in bold

  • OTW at NYI, 1 p.m.; Isles have won last three between these clubs, two went to extra time
  • WSH at CAR, 7:30 (NBC-SN); yet another Biggest Game of the Season for Caps/

Next up for the Cats:

  • Three whole days off before hosting Minnesota Thursday; LBC Game Thread at 7/

Did you know:

  • Though the Panthers are currently in the midst of a season-worst three-game losing streak for the first time, things were far different a year ago: six different occasions found Florida on a three or more game winless stretch./
