2012 WJC Day Three: Panthers prospects power Team Canada

The Florida Panthers have seven prospects in the 2012 IIHF World U20 Championship, and each of them have at least one point in just the third day of the tournament.

Joonas Donskoi (pictured above) assisted (his first point) on Finland’s fourth and final goal in the 4-1 defeat of the United States. Donskoi finished the game with zero shots on net and a plus-two.

Nick Bjugstad and Kyle Rau were scoreless in the defeat, with Bjugstad finishing the game with three shots on goal and a minus-one and Rau finished with two shots on goal and a minus-one.

Connor Brickley, who was injured in the United States first game against Denmark, skated with the team in the morning, but did not play.

Jonathan Huberdeau added on to his tournament leading points with an assist in Canada’s 5-0 defeat of the Czech Republic. Huberdeau and Quinton Howden (who scored his first point of the tournament), finished the game with one assist, one shot, and a plus-one. Huberdeau leads the tournament in assists with five, and is tied with teammate Ryan Strome, for points with six.

Yaroslav Kosov got another assist in Russia’s 3-1 win over Slovakia. Kosov finished the game with one shot on goal and a plus-two.

Team Canada returns to the ice Thursday against Denmark at 8:00 pm EST at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Team Russia faces off against Latvia, also on Thursday at 10:00 pm EST at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Friday the United States and Finland return, with the States facing the Czech Republic at 3:30 pm EST and Finland facing Denmark 8:00 pm EST. Both games will be in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
