Panthers’ Kuba And Goc Winners In Sunday Action From Europe

Florida Panthers defenseman Filip Kuba picked up his first point of the season and finished with a +1 rating during Vitkovice Steel’s 5-0 rout of Pirati Chomutov on home ice in Sunday action from the Czech Extraliga. Kuba set up Petr Strapac in the third period for the final goal of the game. Roman Szturc, Ondrej Sedivy, Marek Malik and Viktor Ujcik scored in a seven minute span midway through the second period to break open a tight game. Roman Malek turned aside 25 shots to post the shutout for Vitkovice who remained in eighth place in the Extraliga standings.

Marcel Goc (pictured above) had four shots on goal but failed to register a point in Adler Mannheim’s 4-2 road win over Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg during Sunday action from the D.E.L. (German Elite League). Goc centered Adam Mitchell and Yannic Seidenberg and finished the game with an even rating. Kai Hospelt scored a shorthanded goal to stake Wolfsburg to 1-0 lead with two seconds remaining in the opening period. Yanick Lehoux and Frank Mauer scored even strength goals early in the second period to put Adler Mannheim ahead before Gregory Moore equalized for Grizzly Adams. In the third period, Craig MacDonald scored the eventual game-winner at the 16:47 mark and Adam Mitchell clinched things for Adler with an empty net goal with seven ticks left on the clock. The win pushed Adler Mannheim’s lead over Kolner Haie in the standings to five points. Kolner has two games in hand.
