Panthers’ Dmitry Kulikov Holds His Own In Lokomotiv Loss to Dynamo Moscow

Florida Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov (pictured above in action from last season) logged 22:44 minutes of ice time, had one shot on goal and finished with an even rating during Lokomotiv Yaroslavl’s 3-0 loss to Dynamo Moscow in Monday action from the KHL. Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin scored a goal and added an assist to lead Dynamo to the road win in front of a disappointed crowd of 9,000 fans in Yaroslavl. Kulikov was paired with recent addition Alexander Guskov and the two held their own against the KHL’s top team. Yury Babenko opened the scoring for Dynamo at the 10:28 mark of the first period, converting a feed from Dmitry Pestunov. In the second period, with Lokomotiv’s Sergei Plotnikov in the penalty box, Ovechkin struck for his sixth goal of the campaign halfway through the ensuing power play. Dynamo put the game away late in the third as Ovechkin set up Richard Gynge for his sixth goal of the season. Alexander Yeryomenko posted the shutout for Dynamo, making 32 saves, while Semyon Varlamov took the loss for Yaroslavl. Despite the defeat Lokomotiv remained on top of the Tarasov Division.
