Panthers sign Marcel Goc for 3 years, $5.1M

In the fourth signing in about an hour, the Florida Panthers have added former Nashville Predator Marcel Goc to a 3 year, 1.7 million per season deal. Goc, a very good depth center with scoring abilities will likely fill in as the third line center with the Panthers. Goc has shown the ability to score goals when called upon with somewhat offensively challenged Predator teams and is above average when taking faceoffs.

If the recent signings of Scotty Upshall and future signings today can help open the offensive floodgates, Goc may be able to put up anywhere from 10-15 goals or even more if he can play a full season. Marcel is in his prime production years at age 27 but with only 6 seasons under his belt he may still have some unharnessed potential he couldn’t find in Nashville, much like former Predator Mike Santorelli. The Nashville link is still apparent with assistant GM Santos, and we can only hope that this acquisition from his former team is as much a home-run as the Santorelli deal.

For a team struggling to put up goals, please welcome what Marcel Goc can bring to the Panthers.
