Quick Take: Luongo stops 41 as Panthers drop tough one to Canucks, 2-1

Game Notes: Plenty of solid work along the boards and in the crease; puck just wouldn’t go in. Two strong games, two one-goal losses, two nights outshooting the eventual victors. Serious effort throughout with very few old-skool lapses and an abundance of discipline. Florida was called for no penalties but went 0-3 on PP; remains an area of extremely high concern. Rostislav Olesz scored the lone Panthers goal in the second period, assisted by Mike Santorelli and Cory Stillman. Vancouver’s Daniel Sedin netted both goals for the Canucks. Tomas Vokoun (33 saves) and Roberto Luongo (41)held a joint-goaltending clinic; top-of-their-talent on display virtually all night. David Booth shared Florida’s SOG lead with Olesz (6) while three players tied with 4. Dennis Wideman ($3.938M per year) led all Panthers with 24:21 TOI; former Cat Keith Ballard ($4.2M) totaled 14:20, last(!) among Vancouver D-men. Manny Malhotra was 10-14 (71%) on faceoffs; meanwhile Santorelli went 4-14 (29%)…and 1-7 against Henrik Sedin. More from Nucks Misconduct.
