Roloson, Islanders undo deficit; slap Panthers 2-1 in shootout

Well, it’s a point.Regardless of a somewhat slow progression up the Eastern conference ladder, Florida now has 51 of them.

That’s the good news.

On the other end, the Panthers quickly allowed a one-goal lead to evaporate against Dwayne Roloson and his formerly putrid 5.10 GAA versus the Cats this season.

Blake Comeau tied the score at 11:39 of the second period, erasing Nathan Horton’s 17th of the year just three minutes earlier.

Fast-forward to the shootout, where Rob Schremp and Matt Moulson scored to seal the victory for the Isles. Michael Frolik and Rostislav Olesz (who went FOREHAND!) were both smothered by Roloson.

The Cats had several strong stretches but faded as the game wore on. New York – conversely – grew stronger, particularly in the second frame with 16 SOG.

Tomas Vokoun, making his 194th consecutive start of the season, stopped 35 of 36 attempts, and remained sharp throughout. Seriously: what more can he do for this club?

Roloson finished with 33 saves.

Quick Notes: Dmitry Kulikov returned to the Florida lineup after a prolonged absence due to injury; he was pointless but “even” with 15:57 TOI. Dennis Seidenberg logged 30:49. You read that correctly. Shawn Matthias led all Panthers forwards with 4 SOG.

More to follow soon.
