Panthers’ Bergenheim Has Quiet Debut For HIFK

Wearing number 84, Florida’s Sean Bergenheim logged 13:38 minutes of ice time in the back and forth overtime loss. He played on HIFK’s fourth line with center Joni Töykkälä and Roope Talaja, registering a single shot on goal while posting an even +/- rating. Markus Granlund opened the scoring for HIFK with an even strength goal at 13:58 of the first period with assists going to Joakim Erikkson and Eero Somervuori. Kris Russell tied the game with a power play goal late in the stanza with Tero Koskiranta and Corey Locke picking up assists on the play. Arttu Luttinen put HIFK ahead early in the second period with assists going to Panther prospect Iiro Pakarinen and Siim Liivik. Brian Willsie tied the game up again six minutes later as TPS Turku struck for another power play goal. Corey Locke picked up his second assist and Kris Russell added his second point of the night by also getting a helper. In the final period, HIFK would take the lead for the third time on a Joakim Erikkson power play tally at the 4:47 mark with defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen in the penalty box for TPS Turku. Eero Somervuori and Ville Varkas would get the assists on the goal. TPS Turku would delight the home crowd by sending the tilt to overtime with only thirty six seconds left on the clock and G Antero Niittymäki on the bench for an extra attacker. Tero Koskiranta got the equalizer on assists from Willsie and Hannu Pikkarainen. Ristolainen would make amends for his earlier transgression by setting up Marko Anttila’s game winner at 1:34 of overtime, Joni Ortio took the loss in goal for HIFK.
