Panthers’ Bergenheim to play in Finland

A Monday press release confirms Panthers wing Sean Bergenheim will suit up for his hometown club, HIFK based in Helsinki, throughout the remainder of the NHL lockout. The team, currently captained by former Florida forward Ville Peltonen, began their regular season schedule September 13, sporting a 2-2-1(tie) record in the SM-Liiga. Bergenheim, 28, scored 17 goals in 63 games during an injury-shortened season a year ago, and previously played on three Finnish Men’s National Teams from 2006 through 2008.
