Florida Panthers sign Sebastian Repo to entry-level contract

Summer roster reshape continues

The Florida Panthers have signed Finnish forward Sebastian Repo to a three-year, entry-level contract. Repo was selected by the Cats in the sixth round (184th overall) of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft and looked good in last week’s development camp.

The 21-year-old Repo appeared in 46 regular season games for Tampere Tappara of Finland’s Liiga, recording 32 points (11G/21A) and suited up in eight games with the Lahti Pelicans, posting three assists.

The Lahti native totaled seven points (6G/1A) in 18 playoff games with Tampere en route to a Liiga Championship. Repo ranked tied for first in goals during the postseason.

Florida also signed forward Connor Brickley and goaltender Harri Sateri to two-way deals and inked Curtis Valk to a one-year entry-level contract.

Brickley, 25, recorded 26 points (15-11-26) in 69 games with the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers last season. The 6-foot, 203-pound native of Everett, MA has recorded five points (1-4-5) in 23 career NHL games, all with Florida during the 2015-16 campaign. Brickley was originally selected by the Panthers in the second round (50th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Sateri appeared in 42 games with Chekov Vityaz of the KHL, and posted a 20-16-5 record, 2.50 GAA, .929 save percentage and two shutouts. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of Toijala, Finland, was named KHL goaltender of the week during the week of September 25. In 132 career KHL games (2014-17), the 27-year-old has a 52-60-16 record, 2.63 GAA, .923 save percentage and nine shutouts. Sateri has some North American experience as well, posting a 48-68-7 record in 129 AHL games (2010-14), with a 2.89 goals against average, .902 save percentage and four shutouts.

Valk, 24, appeared in 75 games with the AHL’s Utica Comets, recording 46 points (16G/30A). His 46 points ranked him second on the Comets in scoring and his 30 assists led the club. The 5-foot-9,  166-pound native of Medicine Hat, Alberta has registered 52 points (18G/34A) in 88 AHL games. Valk played junior hockey with the Medicine Hat Tigers and went undrafted.
