Stamkos cooks Cats with 49th, 50th goals; Lightning shank Panthers 4-3 in SO

Not going to spend much time on this, but Tampa Bay’s

Steven Stamkos

– he of less than two full seasons behind him – nailed his 50th goal of the year this evening. And as Panthers fans we are certainly stoked to have yet another 50+goal threat in the division. Huzzah.

For the Cats, Nathan Horton bagged his 20th of the year (with two assists), Stephen Weiss grabbed a goal and an assist, and Michael Frolik scored to keep the Panthers competitive to the end. Or awfully close, anyway. Scott Clemmensen – improving with each start – stopped 34 shots.

Stereotype warning: Cats put up a grand fight, looked within, dug deep, etc. Been a long year for all of us.

Anyway, congrats to Seen, and we’ll do it all over again this evening as the Live Forum powers up at 4pm. Doing the “Road Trip” deal once more, this time going periods one and three at The Box, while frame two will be held at arch-nemesis(!) Raw Charge, who hosted a splendid affair in time of turmoil for both clubs.
