Tippett in: Panthers get down to a 23-man roster
Brown, Pirri and Zolniercyzk are the final cuts
Florida Panthers President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Dale Tallon announced that the club has reduced its training camp roster to 23 players.
Defenseman Josh Brown has been loaned to Florida’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds and forwards Brandon Pirri and Harry Zolnierczyk were released from their PTOs, bringing the Cats from 26 players to the league-mandated 23-man max before Tuesday’s 5 p.m. deadline.
The final round of cuts means first-round draft choice, Owen Tippett makes the club, despite not really sticking in any of the preseason games. Tippett can play up to nine games without burning a year on his entry-level contract if he is returned to the Ontario Hockey League.
The Panthers will have a 10:30 a.m. practice today at the Panthers IceDen.
