As incoming general manager Dale Tallon is set to be officially introduced Tuesday, we thought it appropriate to look back on outgoing Randy Sexton’s short time as the titular head of the Panthers‘ hockey operations.
Given the shaky ground on which Florida stood following Jacques Martin’s rather hasty exit almost one year ago, Sexton inherited the “acting” GM label largely by default. Not an entirely negative situation; he had been Martin’s assistant since January of 2007 and knew the organization inside and out. And to clarify, he officially held the title of Assistant General Manager until his promotion – and subsequent acceptance of a one-year deal – on October 2nd of 2009, which also happened to be first game of the new season. In Finland. A bit strange on the timing there, but this being the Alan Cohen-fed Panthers, no one glanced twice. Anyway, here’s a peek at What Went Down during Sexy’s tenure.
