Islanders advance with big win over ther Bruins
Brock Nelson scored twice in the second period, including the series-winning goal, as the New York Islanders knocked out the Boston Bruins with a 6-2 win in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Second Round at Nassau Coliseum.
Former New Jersey Devils Travis Zajac and Kyle Palmieri both tallied, and Josh Bailey, and Jean-Gabriel Pageau each had two assists for the Islanders, the four seed in the MassMutual East Division.
Semyon Varlamov, who won four of five starts in the series, made 23 stops to help New York advance to the final four for the second year in a row. They will be looking for revenege against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Brad Marchand scored twice on the power play, and Tuukka Rask made 23 saves for the Bruins.

Norris Trophy nominees
Tampa Bay’s Victor Hedman, Colorado’s Cale Makar and Adam Fox of the New York Rangers were named finalists for the Norris Trophy. Fox and Makar are first-time finalists, while Hedman, who won in 2017-18, was nominated for the fifth straight season.
ECHL Playoffs
The Florida Panthers ECHL affilliate, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits will host the Indy Fuel in Game 2 of the first round of the Kelly Cup playoffs tonight at 7:35 p.m. Ryan Bednard (37 saves) backstopped the Swampers to a 1-0 victory in Game 1.
