Tuesday Caterwaul – Panthers Open Forum

Remember tonight is the gold medal game between Canada and the United States (featuring Panthers forward prospect A.J. Jenks) to wrap the World Junior Championships; here’s a nice rundown to get you up to speed. The bronze medal will be awarded shortly before to either Sweden (look for standout goaltender Jacob Markstrom) or Switzerland.

However…the Panthers are in Toronto this evening, and a good thing: the sooner their last meeting is buried the better. A brutal affair on the ice (worse for currently-injured rookie defenseman Dmitry Kulikov, whose first two-goal game was utterly wasted) though the stands were eerily quiet for a Leafs game in SoFla. Toronto sniper Phil Kessel worried over his one goal in the past eight games? Not a chance.

A minus-3 and one assist over his last four games suggests Cats center Stephen Weiss is running under the radar. Lacking Radek Dvorak’s three goal effort against Pittsburgh on Sunday, we might be hearing more rumblings from the first line.

Whatever. As long as someone is scoring…

UPDATE: Steve MacIntye has been recalled by Florida.
