Panthers sign Vincent Trocheck for six years, $28.5M

After signing unrestricted free agent defenseman Jason Demers earlier in the day, the Florida Panthers announced they have come to terms with restricted free agent center Vincent Trocheck, signing the second line center to a new, six-year contract worth $28.5M ($4.75M AAV).

Flanked by Reilly Smith and Jussi Jokinen for most of the season, Trocheck posted 25 goals and 28 assists in a breakout performance to earn the lucrative new deal.

Trocheck was originally drafted by the Panthers 64th overall in the 2011 Entry Draft and has totaled 83 points in 146 NHL games.

The 22-year-old pivot was one of three RFAs that were tender qualifying offers on June 27. The other two players were defenseman Jonathan Racine and forward Logan Shaw.
