Wednesday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Offseason Open Forum

As he did in the series-ending game against the Florida Panthers, Andrei Vasilevskiy blanked the Carolina Hurricanes as the Tampa Bay Lightning advanced to the next round of the Stanley Cup playoffs with a 2-0 victory at PNC Arena in Raleigh

Vasilevskiy, who stopped all 29 shots, is the first goalie to end three straight Stanley Cup Playoff series with a shutout. He made 22 saves in a 2-0 win against the Dallas Stars in Game 6 of the 2020 Stanley Cup Final, and made 29 saves in a 4-0 win against the Cats in Game 6 of the first round. They are his only three playoff shutouts.

Brayden Point’s second period power-play marker was the series-winner and Ross Colton tacked on an insurance goal midway through the final frame.

Tampa Bay awaits the winner of the series between the New York Islanders and Boston Bruins.

Mark Stone solved Philipp Grubauer glove-side fifty seconds into overtime to lift the Vegas Golden Knights to a rousing 3-2 comeback win over the Colorado Avalanche in Game 5 in Denver.

Thanks to goals from Brandon Saad and Joonas Donskoi, the Avalanche were up by two after forty minutes, but Alex Tuch and Jonathan Marchessault tallied early in the third period to send the game to overtime, where the Golden Knights took a 3-2 lead in the series.

Marc-Andre Fleury made 28 saves on 30 shots for Vegas.
