ReCat: Cats roll by Habs

On Tuesday night in Bell Centre in Montreal, PQ, the Florida Panthers topped the Montreal Canadiens by a 4-1 final.

Vincent Trocheck (27) had a goal and an assist in the win. Aleksander Barkov (23), Jiri Hudler (13), and Nick Bjugstad (12) also lit the lamp for the Cats, while Alex Galchenyuk (26) netted the lone Montreal score on the night.

Jonathan Huberdeau, Reilly Smith, Teddy Purcell, Jaromir Jagr, Aaron Ekblad, and Brian Campbell were awarded helpers for their efforts, while Al Montoya earned his 10th win of the campaign by turning aside 27-of-28 Canadiens shots. Mike Condon made 32 shots in defeat.

Garrett Wilson really laid down the lumber in just 8:36 of ice time, with eight hits to his credit. Ekblad, Steven Kampfer, Dmitry Kulikov combined to block 10 shots to lead Florida’s defensive corps. The Panthers’ 39th win gives them 87 overall points for the season, and they’re now tracking at a 99.6% chance to secure a playoff berth.

The Panthers will stay north of the border for their next game, a 7:30 showdown against the Toronto Maple Leafs on St. Patrick’s Day.
