Gameday 31: Florida Panthers at Calgary Flames

Graphic design: Francisco Oporta

The Florida Panthers (18-10-2) will wrap up a season-long five-game road trip when they visit the Calgary Flames (12-14-5) tonight at Scotiabank Saddledome. Florida broke its goal-starved two-game losing streak on Saturday night by beating the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 in one of their best performances of the season. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 38 of 39 shots and the second line of Sam Bennett (1/2A), Carter Verhaeghe (2G/1A), and Matthew Tkachuk (1A) combined for seven points and nine shots on goal in the big win.

Calgary is coming off a 4-2 home ice victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday that snapped a four-game (0-2-2) losing streak.  Forward Yegor Sharangovich scored for the fifth consecutive game and his goal turned out to be the game-winner. Veteran goaltender Jacob Markstrom has been activated from injured reserve and could get the start against the Cats tonight. Nazem Kadri leads Calgary in assists (14) and points (22).
